Telford Food Bank

Self-Referral Food Support

The process for requesting food remains unchanged.

[box]If you’re in crisis and unable to put food on your plate, please:

  • approach a Telford Crisis Network member, or
  • telephone the Crisis Network Support Line on 01952 459258, or
  • telephone the Telford & Wrekin Council Crisis Line on 01952 380400.[/box]

There is a cut off time of 5pm Monday to Friday. The phone lines are closed at weekends.

Households may self refer and apply themselves for food support twice by phone before they must come through a Telford Crisis Network Member who is actively helping them. You must be in crisis and there is criteria. It’s open to abuse and there are checks and safeguards in place.

No Limits for Telford Crisis Network Members

Telford Crisis Network Members can apply for a food parcel as many times as is needed for any household that you are actively supporting during their time of crisis. There is no cap on the number of times you can apply for someone so long as you are supporting them, you recommend that they receive food support and you make the application on their behalf. Telford Crisis Network Members can apply using the familiar application form.

No Vouchers & No Stigma

We’ve never used a voucher system and, with your help, have fed over 9000 people from all walks of life and from every part of Telford.

58 Agencies & No Revolving Door

We work with 58 agencies to ensure that information is shared and targeted support is prioritised. 75% of people using the food bank have no need to return.

Same Day Service

Requests for food support can be collected the same day that they were made at Fletchers cafe in Madeley.

Free Café & Company

Hot food, coffee, tea and biscuits is available throughout the day across the Borough. They’re free and run by volunteers. Support Cafés provide a valuable service in providing hot meals to those in need and help combat social isolation as well signposting support.

14 Local Distribution Points

We still operate 14 Local Distribution Points across Telford & Wrekin where food parcels can be collected from 11am the following day after the request.

Seven Days a Week Immediate Emergency Provision

A Telford Crisis Network Member may apply for food support online using the familiar application form any day of the week, and may choose to collect the food immediately either themselves as an agency or by accompanying the individual to Telford Town Centre Food Bank.

To be clear, unaccompanied service users cannot use this immediate emergency provision service.

Online applications must be submitted prior to your arrival and this emergency service is available between 10am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturdays, and 10am to 2pm on Sundays.

One Neighbour Helping Another

All this wouldn’t be possible without the support of people right across the Borough.

Absolutely! Donating directly to the Store helps us a lot!
