Shopping List

What is the Food Bank in desperate need of? Great question and thanks for asking!

We want to deliver an Eatwell Plate using the NHS 5 A Day Weekly Meal Planner. That involves eggs, potatoes, meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.

Storage of these at the Local Donation Points is a challenge, but we would love you to donate these items directly to our Telford Community Store where we do have the ability to store and use these items.

If you shop at the Greenfields Farm Shop, please ask them about their loyalty points scheme that supports us.

It looks even better when it’s on a Pink Donation Point Basket.

We aren’t only a food bank. We support people who have nothing but the clothes they are wearing (think of someone who has grabbed their child and fled their home), so please think of us if any of the following items become available:

  • Clothing, including smart clothes and suits for appointments and interviews
  • Single Bedding (fitted sheet, duvet, duvet covers, blankets)
  • Pillows and Pillow Cases
  • Bath Towels
  • Microwaves, Fridges & Freezers

I think it’s sad people having to rely on food banks to feed their family while some get items free from food bank and sell it on to line their own pockets which doesn’t help the food bank.

Hi Elaine, thanks for the comment. We’re not aware of anyone selling on food that’s been given to them by the food bank, but we have seen stories like that in parts of the media. We share data and intelligence with numerous agencies to combat fraud. We’re well aware that we’re custodians of folk’s generosity and we do all that we can to ensure that food donated goes to people in need.

Having said that, if someone has had to resort to selling on a tin of beans to bring in some money, I’d say they were in crisis. Again, we’re partnered up with every addiction service in the Borough and share live data with them in real time. The level of interrogation into the data is escalated every time someone approaches the food bank, so that if someone is selling on food, it should be a short lived enterprise.

Hi guys, I know where you are and that you only have a little time slot to volunteer there, but I wonder what hours you will be open, to take in donations? I would be so grateful if you could let me know.
