FAQ’s

Crisis: An event that is or is expected to lead to an unstable and dangerous situation.

One of the projects run by Telford Crisis Support is the local Foodbank. The Foodbank is experiencing unprecedented demand and supplies are getting low. TCS currently supports approx 100 adults and children every week.

Monetary donations help TCS to provide this much needed support and you can help by organizing some fundraising. Ask your colleagues to donate their lunch money for the day for example. Every little gesture counts.

Organise a quiz night, hold a fancy dress party or get sponsored to walk or cycle a certain distance. Get creative!

DO PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO USE FOODBANKS IN THIS DAY AND AGE?

Yes. A crisis can happen to anyone at any time and there are people who through no fault of their own are unable to put food on their plate. Consider a mother fleeing her abuser in a domestic violence case or the father of young children who finds himself suddenly widowed. A relationship breakdown, a sudden job loss or an unexpected illness and many other life-changing crises happen to people every single day.

CAN JUST ANYONE USE A FOODBANK?

No, an application has to be made; families are often assessed and referred by partner organisations such as health and welfare group or the emergency services. If you or someone you know is in crisis and in need of help, please see the website on how to apply for a food parcel.

ISN’T IT ALWAYS JUST THE SAME PEOPLE USING THE FOODBANK OVER AND OVER AGAIN?

Not at all, Once helped, over 70% of people who have received a food parcel have had no need to return to the Foodbank. Not for a food parcel that is, although may do return offering to help by donating and volunteering.
